A Part To Play
Eagles and White Doves

Where will we turn?
What will we learn?
The war we are waging,
And the desert still burns.

Out in the east
The sands on the road
When will it lead us
back home?

Colors and brothers,
And flags in the sky
Hope for tomorrow,
in there restless young eyes.

Eagles and white doves
There's blood on your hands
The storm near and threatening
chills the heart of a man.

Histories glory
A field of dreams
A moment of faith falls
Like wind through the trees

Shallow my father
A long time ago
Where did you take us?
And where did you go?

For god and for country,
For destiny, alone?
When will it lead us
back  home?

Eagles and white doves
There’s blood on my hands
The storm near and threatening
Save the heart of this man

The Call

Standing at my window
Just watching the world go by
I never really wanted anything
Just a little bit of peace in my mind

Sometimes this place feels lonely
And sometimes a fool for a friend
But sometimes in the distance, a melody
And sometimes it brings me around again

Now they can say that I never felt sorrow
But in the flesh I burned clear through
And in the hours just before sunrise
Standing here, I feel the same way too.

Sometimes this place feels angry
And sometimes I can’t take the pain
But sometimes I embrace the silence
And sometimes it brings me home again

Now i've waited and waited for someone
But to the call i've found no end
And I battled my faith for glory
I've cast my soul upon the wind

And these days I often walk lighter
I keep my back against the wall
And if I could I would give forever
But you'd say I gave a little less than my all.

Beyond The Veil

Actually, this song was from a short story
I wrote about the ultimate love, that of a child.
Jason took this poem from the story
and gave it life as a spirtual breeze.
If there is anything precious in your life, let
it be the respect, kindness and love
you show to a child.

How shall I find the dream of the heart?
From where the road begins
To the moment we shall part.
How shall I speak of life;
From where the morning becomes the night.
The sun a golden song, the melody of love.

Where may I lay my soul;
When angels rest their sacred role?
Can rain become my cleansing sail;
To fall beyond the guarded veil?.

Has no one heard my shallow breath?
My misery can not confess.
Each moment’s tears like drops of faith,
I remain forever but leave this place.

Such beauty I will always know,
You are a part of me wherever I go,
For a word can never fully live
Without the truth you always give.

For just a moment our paths have changed
But my love for you will still remain
Up ahead in the healing light,
Once again you will be in my life.

Neighborhoods

You don’t remember what anyone said
After seven when you got out of bed
And you missed the bus and raced to school
Trying to learn, the golden rule

And the teachers never looked too fine
But there was one you always kept in your mind
And you loved her more than words can say
Remember the day, that you moved away?

And the neighborhoods they never change
Just the scenery up on the stage
And there’s a girl that lives just up the street
She makes your heart beat, when she passes by

Now jimmys brother got sent off to the war
He never knows what he has in store
And I hope that he will be o.k.
They say he’ll be home in April or may

So I’ve been hanging down at the park
And I should be home cause its getting dark
But my friends always change my mind
There is so much to find, if I had the time

And the neighborhoods they never change
The faces different and the names are strange
But the stories still the same, the pictures framed
And the memories remain.

High schools kinda come and gone
And no one ever knows where they go wrong
A couple of kids need someplace to live

Now there’s a stranger standing at the door
He’s got some papers and a pressed uniform
He says your boys not gonna make it home
He didn’t die alone, I'm sorry, I’ll go.

So now we’re standing here at Johnny’s grave
And his dad will never be the same
His tombstone says, “it’s the home of the brave"

And the neighborhoods they never change
Still the stories grow as your old friends fade
Remember the time? Remember the place?

And the neighborhoods they still remain
Out there somewhere it’s a brand new day
But it's still same old play, on the same old stage
